Bristol City Council – public consultation

Bristol City Council launched a public consultation regarding two proposals to reduce air pollution in the city. The council aims to bring nitrogen dioxide (NO2) levels below legal limits as quickly as feasible.

The first proposal involves establishing a Clean Air Zone. Under this scheme, polluting buses, coaches, and heavy goods vehicles would face a £100 daily charge. Taxis and light goods vehicles would be charged £9 per day, while private vehicles would incur no fee.

The second proposal consists of implementing a diesel car ban in a small central area from 7am to 3pm. This restriction would not apply to taxis or private hire vehicles.
